The Perfect Weekend Getaway

Hey guys, hope y’all enjoyed the Easter holidays and you were able to take off some much needed time from work to relax and bond with family and friends. Being the travel junky that I am and having friends and family that share the same passion; a lot of our time is spent looking out for travel discount deals and destinations. You can imagine my excitement when Cynthia (My sister with too much FOMO) came with the news about this deal being offered by Chobe Safari Lodge. This is a place I had always wanted to visit and I was finally able to do so last weekend.  Today am happy to share with you my weekend getaway to this gem hidden in the wild and hopefully you too will have FOMO if you haven’t already been here. The Marasa Africa Group is offering the Weekend getaway deal throughout this year where you pay USD110 full board, including activities and park entrance fees. This deal is also being offered at Mweya and Paraa Lodges as well.

We hit the road by 6:30am, our first stop was in Masindi at Kabalega inn where we had breakfast, and from there we drove nonstop until the lodge. We finally arrived after the five (5) hour drive. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and checked in into our rooms. Everything from the architecture and the interior is very tasteful. You could hardly miss the antique pieces making the space even more magnificent.

The views here are absolutely stunning! The view of the Nile was an absolutely breathtaking experience!

We spent the afternoon enjoying a good swim in the very spacious and nice pools.

They also did not disappoint in the food department, breakfast and dinner especially! Lunch portions were quite small!

The climax was the game drive which we went for early morning on Day 2. The amazing ranger called Savior made it even more worthwhile. We learnt that the biggest part of the vegetation surrounding Chobe Safari is the savannah woodland, and the animals don’t prefer it because it’s bushy and it’s hard to hunt or it’s easy for the prey to be caught.  Most the animals prefer the savannah open grass land which is the vegetation at Para safari lodge. We were meant to take a ferry there which was inclusive on our package but apparently the ferry was not operational that weekend, what a loss!! Nonetheless, we managed to see the Rothschild Giraffes, buffalos, cobs and vavet monkeys.  We didn’t have any luck with the lions and elephants that morning.

So if you are looking for a perfect weekend getaway; whether with family or friends, this is one I totally recommend! Especially while the offer still runs.

Thanks for reading!

 Love and Blessings
